A first-generation daughter of Honduran immigrants, Genesis is a lifelong resident of Newburgh and has worked in the public sector for the past decade. In her work, she has served populations ranging from individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities, at-risk youth, survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking, and those living with HIV. She has lead in the development of reproductive and sexual health education, positive youth development programming, and healthcare access for youth.

She sits on the Board of Directors for Safe Harbors of the Hudson, Chairs the City of Newburgh Human Rights Commission, and Co- Chair’s the Strategic Economic Development Committee. And, she is running to represent District 6 in the Orange County Legislature in 2021.
