OC Progress Mission

OC Progress is a community-based organization working to facilitate constructive dialogue, foster mutual-aid within communities, and advance progressive policies in Orange County, NY.

 
 

OC Progress Vision

We are a progressive organization. As progressives, we hold that all people have the right to live in a safe, just, and sustainable world.

  • To be safe, we must strive for peace—globally, nationally, and within our own communities and homes.

  • To be just, we must strive for not only legal justice but also racial, social, economic, and environmental justice.

  • To be sustainable, we must create long-term solutions that take into account how issues connect with each other. How issues like employment, health, and the environment are interwoven, so we must work to address the root cause, not symptoms of challenges in our society.

OC Progress Background

OC Progress is the Orange County chapter of NYPAN (New York Progressive Action Network). It is democratically led by grass-roots progressive activists and leaders. It serves as a collective platform to help members of our communities care for their neighbors and neighborhoods, claim a voice in their local governance, and advocate for the issues that impact their lives. OC Progress builds coalitions and mobilizes citizen- advocates to defend and uplift the well-being of the people within our communities.

We are here to meet our local community where they are: to support the causes and objectives they need to have supported; to organize for issue campaigns that uplift working people and support social and racial justice; to offer a network of tested leaders, activists, and volunteers to organize a progressive future for Orange County. Where appropriate, OC Progress will endorse candidates for local, state, and federal offices who advocate for and support a progressive agenda as defined by our Vision.

OC Progress is aligned with NYPAN's local and state-wide affiliates, including DSA, Working Families Party, LGBTQ rights and disability rights organizations to build out the progressive base in Orange County.
