Azariah McLymore
Newburgh, NY

Currently a law student at North Carolina Central University, Azariah continues to be actively engaged with Orange County and the Newburgh area. In 2016, when she was still in high school, she founded the McLymore Foundation to empower youth and encourage them to rise above expectations. The foundation has organized events ranging from food and clothing drives to family dances and a community health fair. She is also a tutor for the Marist Upward Bound program and gave a local TEDx Talk on not letting plans for the future undermine appreciating your “now”.

Among many awards for community leadership - in February 2021, Azariah was awarded Citizen of the Month for Orange County. As stated by County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus, “What Azariah has accomplished at such a young age is both impressive and inspirational. Azariah cares deeply about Newburgh and has had a positive impact on the city and its residents in a wide variety of ways. She serves as a role model to her peers. I know that Azariah has a very bright future. We are all proud of her commitment to making Newburgh and Orange County an even better place to live.”
